THE RULES OF MAGIC - 27
The fairy squad is to give the Queen and her Council sufficient notice before practising self defence manoeuvres and spells to make sure the monarch and her government have time to get innocent bystanders out of the way. This has not been an issue to date though Hanastrew does resent the forms she has to fill in to get the required consent. She rightly blames L’Evallier for this. He is an elf who could happily design forms all day. The Fountain of Youth is not to be dammed or vandalized in any way and every magical being will take their annual drink /induction from this in an orderly fashion.
FNN are expressly forbidden from filming fairies and other entitled magical creatures taking their required top up from the Fountain of Youth. It is roughly the equivalent of filming someone sitting on the toilet – it just isn’t done. The Queen and her Council felt the need to spell this out to Roherum though ironically it wouldn’t be him causing the trouble. His great rival, the weatherman, resents those with great magical powers so filming them in a “vulnerable” state would prick the bubble of invincibility and superiority these beings project. This is exactly why this ban has been brought in. Roherum is considered a safe pair of hands. The weatherman has tried telling him this isn’t necessarily a compliment but the goblin thinks otherwise!
The Queen puts herself through a rigorous magical workout once a year to test her powers and to ensure those resident in her blood are up to par. She will always give notice given some of her powers would devastate areas for up to 5 miles around her Palace and put on the most powerful protection spells on those dwellings closest to the “action”. Her Majesty feels all must be made to do a “MOT” like this annually and is planning to draw up a law in the next major Council session. She notes that all previous attempts to bring this measure in, due to the sprites whipping up their compatriots and organizing rounding up a massive media campaign against it. She intends for her law to become law this time though. She’s not tolerant of failure and has no intention of getting used to it.
