APPROPRIATE SONGS FOR MY CHARACTERS
Staying Alive by the Bee Gees - a joint Eileen/Hanastrew collaboration here I think.
You’re the One that I Want by John Travolta/Olivia Newton John. This can be for Derek/Eileen, Jenny/Paul, Brankaresh one way to the Queen as she’s shown no signs of returning the sentiment!
Heart of Glass by Blondie. Brankaresh to The Queen I think.
Ain’t No Stopping Us Now by Macfadden and Whitehead. Eileen and Jenny’s joint anthem given their determination to stay on earth.
We Are Family by Sister Sledge. Eileen/Jenny/Eddie. The Queen would like to be included but they would leave her out.
Le Freak by Chic. What Jenny feels she is after Eileen tells her the wonderful news “oh by the way I’m a fairy godmother”. There is no way to take that news well.
Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits - this one is for Hanastrew and the squad.
Say Hello, Wave Goodbye by Soft Cell, easily the best thing they did. Eileen’s attitude to the Queen! Sadly, it also turns out to be Jenny’s attitude to Eileen, something the latter neither anticipated nor wanted.
Goodbye to Love by the Carpenters. Strong contender for best guitar solo, the words of the song could well apply to the Queen. Her position is a lonely one. She has no obvious partner.
Singing the Blues by Dave Edmunds, yes I know Guy Mitchell did it, but love the DE version. Jenny’s song for when she has PND and when Eileen’s really got up her nose.
Rough Justice by Bananarama, their best song. Words are so apt for Eileen, Hanastrew, the Queen and even the Council especially after the rebellion.
The Look of Love by ABC - Eileen to Derek and vice versa, likewise Jenny and Paul.
River Deep, Mountain High by Ike and Tina Turner. Eileen and Hanastrew have been there on the Queen’s service! As for the love shown in the song, it would sum up Eileen’s passion for Derek. He may be mortal but she would be lost without him.
My Girl by Madness. Derek’s tune.
