THE RULES OF MAGIC - 18
It is also widely expected by the Queen, Council and most of the rest of the Kingdom that sprites, being terminally stupid at times, will resist any attempts to bring them into line. Sprites should be aware that defiance on their part will be tackled head on, as will the sprites themselves if necessary. Given the sprites have an almost unerring instinct for getting right up the orifices of choice of other magical beings, they should not be surprised the Kingdom will be expecting trouble from them and will do all it can do to stop it or limit its impact. The days of sprites being able to run riot without behind held to account for it are long gone.
The Queen and her Council have, as had their predecessors, tried to enforce a standard set of rules on mining safety to be followed by all the dwarf communities. This has never gone down well. The dwarves have always taken it as read it is for them to organize their own safety and, hey, mine disasters happen from time to time. However, this Queen and her Council do not intend to give up on this idea and hereby give notice that they will give the dwarf communities one year to come up with something they would be happy with or the fairy government’s own ideas will be imposed, backed up by magical force if necessary. Let nobody say the dwarves haven’t been given every chance to sort this out.
The Queen’s ancestors spent a great deal of magic, time and charm on winning over groups like the trolls and orcs to work for the fairy royals rather than the witch opposition. So any sprites trying to wind up these groups for their own entertainment will face the full law of the lore and that will not be a pretty sight. Given sprites have often called for the return of stocks and other delightful punishments, they can expect to face these things themselves if they step out of line too much. The Queen and her Council wish this to be seen as a regulation in that if you wish the powers that be to clamp down on a group you dislike, they will and then add on a considerable amount of interest!
