APPROPRIATE SONGS FOR MY CHARACTERS
I Got You by James Brown. Eileen's theme tune when on active service for the Queen. Hanastrew has kind of inherited this song. She lives up to the title with gusto when it comes to tackling magical villains.
I Hear You Knocking by Dave Edmunds. Eileen can hear the Queen "knocking" for her to resume her highly dangerous fairy godmother role. As far as Eileen is concerned, the Queen can keep on knocking...
White Wedding by Billy Idol. Both Eileen and Jenny had these. Eileen helped speed up the arrangement of her wedding and Jenny's by the judicious use of some spells. Not for Eileen the trudging round the shops looking at dresses - the dresses came to her. She told Jenny she had ordered a "bespoke" service. "Bewitched" would have been more accurate.
Kid by the Pretenders. A song from Jenny to her son, Eddie. She wants her kid kept well away from any magical influence so it is with a great deal of dismay she discovers the lad literally has magic coming out of his fingers. Now she has to figure out how to suppress it just as her mother did with her. Jenny is well aware of the link here and loathes it.
Clock of the Heart by Culture Club. Fairies age differently to humans and are much longer lived. Eileen has (and will continue to have) the benefit of looking a lot younger than she is and Jenny too looks relatively youthful. Eileen suspects because Jenny is half human Jenny will age at half the rate full humans would do. It is not clear how the menopause will affect Jenny - will she only have hot flushes half the time or just down one side? All Eileen knows is the half and half arrangement is bound to have odd effects on her daughter later. Does she regret going ahead and having a hybrid child? Not a bit of it...
