The equivalent of science fiction and fantasy FNN programmes are the documentaries speculating on what life on Earth would be like if humans were responsible. Given the Kingdom’s jaundiced view here, none of the programmes are positive though the realm considers them factual and entertaining. Roherum adores presenting them as no hyperbole is too much for these shows. Earth’s liking for stories (“made up lies”) is discussed (bear in mind the Kingdom believes the fairy tales are real and in their world happened once, a long long time ago). The Kingdom despises Earth’s sci-fi and fantasy shows as being far too limited. Besides the realm knows where the monsters are - in their world!
Poetry is appreciated in the Kingdom as it is felt to reflect emotions, life as it is lived, unlike fiction which is free to be a pack of lies! Poetry is felt to be innately truthful. The elves, of course, are considered to be the Kingdom’s Poetry Guardians but every species writes verse from time to time. Naturally the sprites tend to stick to limericks (the dodgier the better). The Queen does not have a Poet Laureate nor is she thinking of appointing one. She wants to make sure poetry is accessible and thinks appointing a big wig of poetry will be elitist. The fact that on Earth the Laureate system gives added publicity to an art form which rarely gets any is dismissed. The Queen considers the lack of publicity and poetry readings to be the problem which should just be amended. This is one area where the Queen’s author is not in agreement with her creation!
