Treachery is considered the biggest crime in the Kingdom as so many of the Queen’s and Eileen’s ancestors either came to the throne or were rapidly dispatched from said throne thanks to betrayal. Brankaresh’s betrayal hurt the Queen since she’d done much to further the wretch’s career but she forgot it doesn’t just take money or the promise of power to make someone turn. In Brankaresh’s case his genuine belief no woman could rule alone was his guiding principle. Ironically since in dealing with Brankaresh, the Queen has more than proved she can rule alone. Indeed she and Elizabeth Tudor have much in common here. Also acts of treachery remind the Queen that her realm is far from perfect, that it has traits in common with humanity (not something she wants to be reminded of) and that she too is vulnerable to a traitor. It does explain her actions after the Kingdom is restored. And Eileen’s twitchiness too - a panic stricken monarch can never be good for the realm.
Eileen, if not so incensed with the Queen and her obsession with getting her family back in the Kingdom no matter how dodgy a method is needed to achieve that, would gladly have helped the green lobby at home. She led the way in not being prejudiced against someone being a witch or a wizard just because of that. She is however prejudiced against all sorts of evil. Eileen does support the green lobby on Earth, recycling whatever she can. She sees taking care of the environment as welcome proof that not all humans are unthinking, uncaring swine. The late Rose (Fresidan) would’ve agreed with Eileen here. Indeed Rose had written so many books on Kingdom flora and fauna, she would’ve been the natural head of the green lobby in the magical realm. Her loss is felt by those who care most about restoring the land.

AuthorI'm Allison Symes and I write novels, short stories as well as some scripts and poems. I love setting my work in my magical world, the Fairy Kingdom, and my favourite character is Eileen, who believes hypocrisy is something that happens to other people without caring that statement is hypocritical in itself! Eileen is huge fun to write for and about. Archives
