Humans are generally considered with contempt because the Kingdom assumes we are all guilty of polluting our planet and committing warfare whenever we get half the chance. Eileen was one of the few to challenge that assumption but even she got nowhere in changing her old world's view. The only reason the Kingdom has any links with Earth at all is because of its divine commission to keep a watching brief over the planet. If there was any way out of this obligation, the Kingdom would take it but there are those even the Queen and her ilk dare not argue with!
The Fairy Kingdom's attitude to other worlds is one of caution. There are a number of worlds that have tried to attack the magical realm to steal its powers (the attitude to these is understandably hostile) while others the realm is meant to keep an eye on, such as Earth, tend to be looked down on. Almost everybody in the Fairy Kingdom from the Queen downwards considers non-magical beings to be inferior, to be pitied and certainly not to be treated as equals. Being patronizing is something that wouldn't occur to the Kingdom's inhabitants. It is just an automatic assumption that anyone with magical skills has to be superior over someone who hasn't got them.

AuthorI'm Allison Symes and I write novels, short stories as well as some scripts and poems. I love setting my work in my magical world, the Fairy Kingdom, and my favourite character is Eileen, who believes hypocrisy is something that happens to other people without caring that statement is hypocritical in itself! Eileen is huge fun to write for and about. Archives
