Eileen’s personal history is dramatic too. As well as her defection to Earth to marry Derek, her early life was no less eventful. She lost her mother, Marina, when she was still a babe and Eileen has since found out that it was foul play. Her mother also had a habit of putting her regal nose in where it wasn’t wanted and was silenced permanently. Eileen has partially become a loudmouth to try to make sure the same fate didn’t happen to her. She also gave lots of information to the Fairy News Network to make sure even if something didn’t happen to her the broadcasters had the relevant story.
Taking the blame...
None of the major magical groups come out with much credit when it comes to the realm’s past. One region out of the Kingdom’s seven is almost all completely wasted, thanks to magical battles blasting the land to pieces. Regrettably the land is far too damaged to recover and this was a major reason that led to Fresdian (later Rose) to take up her role as promoter of flora and fauna and to try to urge her fellow fairies at least to care for the landscape and environment. Over time she did achieve some success here but to begin with she was considered nuts for being out in all weathers harping on about wildlife all the time. It took her over a century to show she was consistent, her arguments were valid and for the realm to start taking any notice.
Campaigning to put things right...
Fresdian had petitioned the Queen on a regular basis to do whatever she could to restore the barren land. Everyone knows the fairy royals have additional powers and Fresdian took the view the monarch could and should use these to help rectify the failings of the past. The Queen always politely fobbed Fresidan off not that the old fairy godmother was fooled. It is known the fairy royals are reluctant to reveal what their extra powers are and prefer to save this for extreme situations. Fresdian of course sees correcting the damage as an extremity that should be tackled. The Queen sees extremity as threats facing the Kingdom as a whole and barren land doesn’t come into that category.
