The Fairy News Network is the main source of home entertainment. It aspires to be like our BBC but frankly the FNN's journalistic standards need to improve drastically. Everyone in the Kingdom watches the nightly news bulletins partly to keep up to date with what is going on in their magical world, but mainly to see how well or otherwise Roherum, the anchorman, gets through the show and whether his chief rival, the weatherman, will finally get around to fighting Roherum on air. This has been expected for years. To date though viewers can often hear the weatherman calling Roherum all sorts of names when he gets names wrong and so on. Roherum gives as good as he gets and it is only because this behaviour has seemed to help the ratings, the presenter and weatherman are still in their jobs.
Each village organizes its own fete and naturally there is a lot of competition between places within a certain mileage of one another to outdo their local rivals. It is very much akin to local football derbies. Each town has its own library. It is often here that villagers from one place meet other villagers from their local rivals and relationships take off. It is understood that nobody causes any kind of trouble in a library. The rule is if you can't talk nicely, don't bother at all. Besides most of the librarians are capable of the kind of magic that will hurt a lot and even the most stupid imp or pixie doesn't make that mistake twice.

AuthorI'm Allison Symes and I write novels, short stories as well as some scripts and poems. I love setting my work in my magical world, the Fairy Kingdom, and my favourite character is Eileen, who believes hypocrisy is something that happens to other people without caring that statement is hypocritical in itself! Eileen is huge fun to write for and about. Archives
